ತರಣಿದರ್ಶನಕಿಂತ ಕಿರಣಾನುಭವ ಸುಲಭ ।
ಪರಮಶಾಸ್ತ್ರಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಸರಿಯುದಾಹರಣೆ ॥
ಪರಮತತ್ತ್ವ ಕಂಡ ಗುರುವನರಸುವುದೆಲ್ಲಿ? ।
ದೊರೆತಂದು ನೀಂ ಧನ್ಯ - ಮಂಕುತಿಮ್ಮ ॥ ೭೭೪ ॥
ಸೂರ್ಯನನ್ನು ನೋಡುವುದಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಅವನ ಕಿರಣಗಳಿಂದ ಹೊರಸೂಸುವ ಬೆಳಕು ಸಹನೀಯ. ಅತ್ಯುತ್ತಮ ಶಾಸ್ತ್ರಗಳನ್ನು ಅರಿಯುವುದಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಅದರ ಸಾರವನ್ನು ಉದಾಹರಣೆಯಾಗಿ ನೋಡಿದರೆ ಅರ್ಥವಾಗುವುದು ಸುಲಭ. ಹಾಗೆ ಪರತತ್ವವನ್ನು ಅರಿತ ಗುರುವನ್ನು ಅರಸುವುದು ಎಲ್ಲಿ? ಅಂತಹ ಗುರು ದೊರೆತ ದಿನ ನೀನು ಧನ್ಯ, ಎಂದು ಉಲ್ಲೇಖಮಾಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಮಾನ್ಯ ಗುಂಡಪ್ಪನವರು ಈ ಮುಕ್ತಕದಲ್ಲಿ.
It is easier to bask in sunlight than look at the sun directly. It is easier to understand by examples than to learn all the scriptures first hand. We all want to learn about the universal truth. ಕಾಗೆಯುಂ ಕೋಗಿಲೆಯುಮೊಂದೆ ಮೇಲ್ನೋಟಕ್ಕೆ ।
ಯೋಗಿಯುಂ ಸಂಸಾರಭೋಗಿಯೇ ಹೊರಕೆ ॥
ಲೋಗರವೊಲಿರುತೆ ಸುಖದುಃಖಸಂಭ್ರಮಗಳಲಿ ।
ತ್ಯಾಗಿಯವನ್ ಆಂತರದಿ - ಮಂಕುತಿಮ್ಮ ॥ ೭೭೫ ॥
ಕಾಗೆ ಮತ್ತು ಕೋಗಿಲೆಗಳು ಮೇಲು ನೋಟಕ್ಕೆ ಒಂದೇ ರೀತಿ ಕಾಣುತ್ತವೆ. ಯೋಗಿಯೂ ಹೊರನೋಟಕ್ಕೆ ಸಂಸಾರಿಯಂತೆ ಕಾಣುತ್ತಾನೆ. ಭೋಗಿಯಂತೆ ಕಾಣುತ್ತಾನೆ. ಆದರೆ ಅವನು ಲೋಕದ ಎಲ್ಲ ಜನರಂತೆ ಕಾಣುತ್ತಾ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಸುಖ ದುಃಖ ಸಂಭ್ರಮಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಪಾಲ್ಗೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಾ ಅಂತರಂಗದಲ್ಲಿ ತ್ಯಾಗಿಯಾಗಿರುತ್ತಾನೆ, ಎಂದು ತ್ಯಾಗಿಗಳ ಲಕ್ಷಣವನ್ನು ಅರುಹಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಮಾನ್ಯ ಗುಂಡಪ್ಪನವರು ನಮಗೆ ಈ ಮುಕ್ತಕದಲ್ಲಿ.
For a plain sight, the crow and nightingale look similar. But they are very different in their qualities. Just like that, a Yogi (ascetic) may also look to be a normal person enjoying his stay in this world. He mingles with every one with their happiness, grief and jubilations. But inside he is noble person deeply and selflessly concerned about others on the world. - Mankutimma

ಪರಿಪರಿಯ ರೂಪದಲಿ ಪರದೈವ ಕಣ್ಮುಂದೆ ।
ಚರಿಸುತಿರೆ ನರನದರ ಗುರುತನರಿಯದೆಯೆ ॥
ಧರೆಯದದು ತನ್ನಂದದ ಪ್ರಾಣಿಯೆಂದೆಣಿಸಿ ।
ತೊರೆಯುವನು ದೊರೆತುದನು - ಮಂಕುತಿಮ್ಮ ॥ ೭೭೬ ॥
ವಿದವಿದವಾದ ರೂಪಗಳನ್ನು ಹೊತ್ತು ಆ ಪರದೈವ ಕಣ್ಣ ಮುಂದೆಯೇ ಓಡಾಡುತ್ತಾ ಇದ್ದರೂ ಅದರ ಗುರುತನ್ನು ತಿಳಿಯಲಾಗದೆ, ಅದೂ ಸಹ ಭೂಮಿಯ ಮೇಲೆ ಓಡಾಡುವ ತನ್ನಂತಹ ಮತ್ತೊಂದು ಪ್ರಾಣಿ, ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿದು ಕೈಗೆ ಸಿಕ್ಕ ದೈವವನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಬಿಡುತ್ತಾನೆ, ಮನುಷ್ಯ ಎಂದು ಸರ್ವಾತ್ಮಾನುಭವದ ವಿಷಯವನ್ನು ಪ್ರಸ್ತಾಪ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಮಾನ್ಯ ಗುಂಡಪ್ಪನವರು ನಮಗೆ ಈ ಮುಕ್ತಕದಲ್ಲಿ.
God comes in front of us in different forms. Man does not recognize it. He thinks it just another beautiful creature of this world. He will let go of it even after getting it. - Mankutimma

ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯ ರೂಪದಲಿ, ಸಂಸಾರಿವೇಷದಲಿ ।
ಸ್ವಾಮಿ ನಿನ್ನೆಡೆಗೆ ಬರಬಹುದು ವರ ನೀಡಿ ॥
ಮೈಮೆ ಕಾಂಬೊಡೆ ನಿನಗೆ ಸಂಸ್ಕಾರವಿರಬೇಕು ।
ತಾಮಸಿಗೆ ವರವೆಲ್ಲಿ? - ಮಂಕುತಿಮ್ಮ ॥ ೭೭೭ ॥
ಪರಮಾತ್ಮ ನಿನಗೆ ವರ ನೀಡಲು, ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯನ ರೂಪಧರಿಸಿ ಬರಬಹುದು, ಸಂಸಾರಿಯ ವೇಷಧರಿಸಿ ಬರಬಹುದು. ಅವನ ಮಹಿಮೆಯನ್ನು ಕಾಣಲು ಒಂದು ಉನ್ನತ ಸಂಸ್ಕಾರವಿರಬೇಕು. ತಾಮಸ ಗುಣವುಳ್ಳವನಿಗೆ ವರವೆಲ್ಲಿ ಸಿಗುವುದು ಎಂದು ಸರ್ವಾತ್ಮಾನುಭವದ ವಿಚಾರವನ್ನು ಮಂಡಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಮಾನ್ಯ ಗುಂಡಪ್ಪನವರು ಈ ಮುಕ್ತಕದಲ್ಲಿ.
God may come to you in ordinary form as another worldly person. He comes to you to give you a boon. But to see him (as God) you need to have righteous ways. How will a greedy (interested in enjoying pleasures) ever get a boon? (He will not be able to recognize God and treat him well) - Mankutimma

ವಿಷಯಭೋಗವಿರಕ್ತಿ, ವಿಶ್ವಲೀಲಾಸಕ್ತಿ ।
ಕೃಷಿಗೆ ಸಂತತ ದೀಕ್ಷೆ, ವಿಫಲಕೆ ತಿತಿಕ್ಷೆ ॥
ವಿಷಮದಲಿ ಸಮದೃಷ್ಟಿ, ವಿವಿಧಾತ್ಮ ಸಂಸೃಷ್ಟಿ ।
ಕುಶಲಸಾಧನಗಳಿವು - ಮಂಕುತಿಮ್ಮ ॥ ೭೭೮ ॥
ವಿಷಯಗಳ ಭೋಗದಲಿ ವಿರಕ್ತಿ, ವಿಶ್ವ ಲೀಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಆಸಕ್ತಿ, ಕರ್ತವ್ಯವನ್ನು ಮಾಡಲು ಸದಾ ನಿರತ, ವೈಫಲ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ಅವಿಚಲಿತ, ಜಗತ್ತಿನ ವೈವಿಧ್ಯತೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸಮದೃಷ್ಟಿ, ಜಗತ್ತಿನ ಆತ್ಮಗಳೆಲ್ಲವೂ ಒಂದೇ ಎನ್ನುವ ಜಗದಾತ್ಮಭಾವ, ಇಂತಹ ಗುಣಗಳಿದ್ದರೆ ಅವುಗಳು ಪರತತ್ವವನ್ನು ಅರಿಯುವ ಪ್ರಯತ್ನಕ್ಕೆ ಸೂಕ್ತವಾದ ಸಾಧನಗಳು ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಮಾನ್ಯ ಗುಂಡಪ್ಪನವರು ಈ ಮುಕ್ತಕದಲ್ಲಿ.
These are the qualities that will help you lead a happy life. Disinterest in the material pleasures, indulging in understanding of the world, always being hardworking, exercising patience when fail, keeping a balanced mind when faced with troubles, treating all other beings as same (equal to self). - Mankutimma
