ಹಳಯ ಮಲೆ ಹಳೆಯ ನೆಲವಾದೊಡೆಯುಮೊರತೆ ಮಳೆ ।
ಹೊಳೆನೀರನಾವಗಂ ಪೊಸದಾಗಿಸುವವೊಲ್ ॥
ಹಳೆಯ ಕರ್ಮವ ಹೊಸದು ಕೊಚ್ಚಿ ಪೌರುಷನದಿಯ ।
ಬೆಳೆಯಿಪುದು ನವತೆಯಲಿ - ಮಂಕುತಿಮ್ಮ ॥ ೧೬೪ ॥
ಹಳೆಯ ಭೂಮಿ ಮತ್ತು ಹಳೆಯ ಬೆಟ್ಟವಾದರೂ ಹೊಸದಾಗಿ ಸುರಿಯುವ ಮಳೆಯು ನದೀ ನೀರನ್ನು ಹೊಸದಾಗಿಸುವಂತೆ, ಹೊಸ ಕರ್ಮಗಳು ಹಳೆಯ ಕರ್ಮಗಳನ್ನು ಕೊಚ್ಚಿಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗಿ, ಮತ್ತೆ ಹೊಸ ಹೊಸ ಕರ್ಮಗಳ ಸಾಂಗತ್ಯವನ್ನು ನಮಗೆ ನೀಡುವುದು ಎಂದು ಈ ಕಗ್ಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಕರ್ಮ ಪರಿವರ್ತನೆಯ ವೃತ್ತಾಂತವನ್ನು ಉಲ್ಲೇಖಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ, ಮಾನ್ಯ ಗುಂಡಪ್ಪನವರು, ಈ ಕಗ್ಗದಲ್ಲಿ.

ಹೊಸಹೊಸದು ತಾನಾಗುತಿರ್ದೊಡಂ ತನ್ನಯ ।
ಪ್ರಸವ ಪ್ರವಾಹ ಭೂಮಿಗಳ ಹಳತನದಿಂ ॥
ನಸುಸೋಂಕು ವಾಸನೆಯ ಪೊನಲೊಂದಬೇಕಲ್ತೆ? ।
ಹೊಸದು ಹಳದಾಗದೇ - ಮಂಕುತಿಮ್ಮ ॥ ೧೬೫ ॥
ಹೊಸಮಳೆಯಿಂದ ಸೃಷ್ಟಿಯಾದ ಹೊಸನೀರಿನ ನದಿ ಹರಿಯುವುದು ಹಳೆಯ ದಾರಿಯಲ್ಲವೇ? ಅದರ ಹರಿಯುವ ಪಾತ್ರವೇನೂ ಬದಲಾಗುವುದಿಲ್ಲವಲ್ಲವೇ? ಅದು ಉಗಮವಾಗುವ ಬೆಟ್ಟವೂ ಹಲತೆ ಮತ್ತು ಅದು ಹರಿಯುವ ಭೂಮಿಯೂ ಹಳತೇ. ಹಾಗೆ ಹೊಸತನವನ್ನು ತುಂಬಿಕೊಂಡ ನದಿ ಆ ಹಳೆಯ ಭೂಮಿಯ ಗುಣಗಳನ್ನೂ ಹೊತ್ತು ಹೊಸದರಂತೆ ಹರಿಯುತ್ತದೆ. ಹಳತನ್ನು ಉಳಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಹೊಸ ರೂಪಧರಿಸಿ ಸಾಗುವುದೇ ಈ ಜೀವನದ ನದಿ ಎಂಬ ಅರ್ಥದಲ್ಲಿದೆ ಈ ಕಗ್ಗದ ಹೂರಣ.
"As we see new things in this world being created every day we must realize that they are all being made from old things only. Just like the new water (from previous verse) will have some smells from the past (of the earth) anything new will bear some resemblance to the past. Also, will 'new' not become 'old' in time?" - Mankutimma

ಹುಳು ಹುಟ್ಟಿ ಸಾಯುತಿರೆ, ನೆಲ ಸವೆದು ಕರಗುತಿರೆ ।
ಕಡಲೊಳೆತ್ತಲೊ ಹೊಸದ್ವೀಪವೇಳುವುದು ॥
ಕಳೆಯುತೊಂದಿರಲಿಲ್ಲಿ, ಬೆಳೆವುದಿನ್ನೊಂದೆಲ್ಲೊ ।
ಅಳಿವಿಲ್ಲ ವಿಶ್ವಕ್ಕೆ - ಮಂಕುತಿಮ್ಮ ॥ ೧೬೬ ॥
ಈ ಜಗತ್ತಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದು ಹುಳ ಸತ್ತರೆ ಹತ್ತು ಹುಟ್ಟುತ್ತವೆ. ನಾವು ಒಂದು ಸೊಳ್ಳೆಯನ್ನು ಹೊಸಕಿ ಹಾಕಿದರೆ, ಬೇರೆಲ್ಲೋ ಸಾವಿರ ಹುಟ್ಟಿರುತ್ತದೆ. ಒಂದು ಸಸಿ ನಾಶವಾದರೆ ಬದಲಾಗಿ ಸಾವಿರಾರು ಹುಟ್ಟುತ್ತವೆ. ಭೂಮಿಯ ಮೇಲ್ಮೈಯೂ ಬದಲಾಗುತ್ತಿರುತ್ತದೆ. ಎಲ್ಲೋ ಸಾಗರ ವಿಸ್ತಾರಗೊಂಡು ಕೆಲ ನೆಲಬಾಗ ಕೊಚ್ಚಿ, ಮುಚ್ಚಿಕೊಂಡು ಹೋದರೆ, ಮತ್ತೆಲ್ಲೋ ಹಲ ದ್ವೀಪಗಳು ತಲೆಯೆತ್ತುತ್ತವೆ. ಒಂದು ಎಲ್ಲೋ ಕಳೆದು ಹೋಯಿತು ಎಂದರೆ ಮತ್ತೆಲ್ಲೋ ಇನ್ನೊಂದು ಬೆಳೆದು ನಿ೦ತಿರುತ್ತದೆ. ಹೀಗೆ ಅಳಿವು, ಸುಳಿವು, ಉಳಿವುಗಳ ಪ್ರಕ್ರಿಯೆ ನಿರಂತರವಾಗಿ ಮತ್ತು ನಿರಾತಂಕವಾಗಿ ಈ ಜಗತ್ತಿನಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆಯುತ್ತಿರುತ್ತದೆ . ಹಾಗಾಗಿ ಈ ಜಗತ್ತಿಗೆ ಅಳಿವಿಲ್ಲ ಎನ್ನುವುದೇ ಗುಂಡಪ್ಪನವರ ಈ ಕಗ್ಗದ ಹೂರಣ.

ಕ್ಷಿತಿಚಕ್ರ ರವಿಚಕ್ರ ಋತುಚಕ್ರಗಳಿಗಿಹುದು ।
ಮಿತವೃತ್ತಿ; ನರನಿಗಂತೆಯೆ ಕರ್ಮನಿಯತಿ ॥
ಕ್ಷಿತಿಕಂಪ ರಾಹುಕೇತುಭ್ರಮೆ ನರಪ್ರಗತಿ ।
ಅತಿಚರಿತೆ ಪ್ರಕೃತಿಯಲಿ - ಮಂಕುತಿಮ್ಮ ॥ ೧೬೭ ॥
ಭೂಮಿಗೆ ಎರಡು ರೀತಿಯ ಚಲನೆಗಳಿವೆ. ಒಂದು ಅದು ತನ್ನ ಅಕ್ಷೆಯ ಮೇಲೆ ಸುತ್ತುತ್ತಿರುತ್ತದೆ. ಹಾಗೆ ಸುತ್ತಿಕೊಂಡೇ ಸೂರ್ಯನ ಪರಿಭ್ರಮಣೆ ಮಾಡುತ್ತದೆ. ಈ ಎರಡೂ ಸುತ್ತುವಿಕೆಯಿಂದ ಋತು ಬದಲಾವಣೆಗಳಾಗುತ್ತವೆ. ನಮ್ಮ ಎಲ್ಲ ಕಾಲಗಣನೆ, ದಿನ, ವಾರ, ತಿಂಗಳುಗಳ ಲೆಕ್ಕಕ್ಕೆ ಈ ಸುತ್ತುವಿಕೆಯೇ ಆಧಾರ. ಆದರೆ ಅವುಗಳಿಗೆ ಅಷ್ಟುಬಿಟ್ಟರೆ ಬೇರೆ ಕೆಲಸವಿಲ್ಲ. ಅಂದರೆ ಅವುಗಳ ಪ್ರವೃತ್ತಿಗೆ ಒಂದು ಮಿತಿ ಇದೆ. ಅವು ಎಂದಿಗೂ ತಮ್ಮ ಮಿತಿಗಳನ್ನು ಮೀರಿ ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡಲಾರವು
"The movement of earth and the Sun along its orbit, the cycle of seasons are all well defined and bound by the rules. Just like that, man's fate is decided by the actions he takes. (Typically, we believe good returns follow good deeds). However, there are also some incidents in nature that are outside of the system that can not be predicted - like earth quakes and comets. ಅನುಬಂಧ ಜೀವಜೀವಕೆ ಪುರಾಕೃತದಿಂದ ।
ಮನದ ರಾಗದ್ವೇಷವಾಸನೆಗಳದರಿಂ ॥
ತನುಕಾಂತಿ ಮೋಹ ವಿಕೃತಿಗಳುಮಾ ತೊಡಕಿನವು ।
ಕೊನೆಯಿರದ ಬಲೆಯೊ ಅದು - ಮಂಕುತಿಮ್ಮ ॥ ೧೬೮ ॥
ಜೇವಿ ಜೀವಿಗಳ ಮಧ್ಯೆ ಇರುವ ಅನುಬಂಧವು ಪೂರ್ವಕರ್ಮದಿಂದಲೇ ಉಂಟಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಮನಸ್ಸಿನ ಕೋಪ ದ್ವೇಷ ಮತ್ತು ವಾಸನೆಗಳೂ ಸಹ ಇದರಿಂದಲೇ. ದೇಹದ ಹೊಳಪು ಅದರ ಆಕರ್ಷಣೆ ಮತ್ತು ಆ ಆಕರ್ಷಣೆ ಯಿಂದ ಉಂಟಾಗುವ ತೊಂದರೆ ತೊಡಕುಗಳು ಒಂದು ಅಂತ್ಯವಿಲ್ಲದ ಬಲೆಯೆಂತೆ ಎಂದು ಮಾನ್ಯ ಗುಂಡಪ್ಪನವರು ಈ ಕಗ್ಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಉಲ್ಲೇಖಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ.

These relationships gives rise to feelings in our minds - liking, hatred, indulgence. Beauty, love (attachment) and other distortions will hamper us from seeing the truth.
