ಪ್ರಾಲೇಯಗಿರಿಗುಹೆಯ ಗಂಗೆ ವೇದ ಪುರಾಣ ।
ಕಾಳಿಂದಿ ಶೋಣೆ ಪೌರುಷ ಬುದ್ಧಿ ಯುಕ್ತಿ ॥
ಮೂಲ ಸ್ವತಸ್ಸಿದ್ಧ ಸಂವಿದಾಪಗೆಗಿಂತು ।
ಕಾಲದುಪನದಿ ನೆರವು - ಮಂಕುತಿಮ್ಮ ॥ ೫೧೯ ॥
ಹಿಮಾಲಯದ ಅಂತರಂಗದಿಂದ ಹರಿವ ಮತ್ತು ಎಂದೂ ಬತ್ತದ ಸಾರ್ವಕಾಲಿಕ ನದಿ ಗಂಗೆಯಂತೆ, ಸರ್ವಕಾಲಕ್ಕೂ ಸತ್ಯವನ್ನೇ ಪ್ರತಿಪಾದಿಸುವ ನಮ್ಮ ವೇದ ಮತ್ತು ಪುರಾಣಗಳು. ಆ ಗಂಗೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬಂದು ಸೇರುವ ಯಮುನಾ ಶೋಣಾ ಮುಂತಾದ ನದಿಗಳಂತೆ ನಮ್ಮ ಬುದ್ಧಿಶಕ್ತಿ, ಜಾಣ್ಮೆ,ಯುಕ್ತಿಗಳು ಸತ್ಯದ ಮೂಲವಾದ ವೇದ ಉಪನಿಷತ್ತುಗಳ ಸತ್ವವನ್ನು ಅನುಸಂಧಾನಮಾಡಿದಾಗ ಕಾಲವೆಂಬ ಉಪನದಿಯ ನೆರವನ್ನು ಪಡೆದು, ಜ್ಞಾನದ ಸುಭದ್ರ ತಳಹದಿಯಮೇಲೆ ನಮ್ಮ ಪ್ರಯತ್ನದಿಂದ ಜ್ಞಾನದೀವಿಗೆಯನ್ನು ನಮ್ಮ ನಮ್ಮ ಹೃದಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಬೆಳಗಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕು ಎನ್ನುವ ಆಶಯವನ್ನು ವ್ಯಕ್ತಪಡಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ ಮಾನ್ಯ ಗುಂಡಪ್ಪನವರು ಈ ಮುಕ್ತಕದಲ್ಲಿ.
The Ganges has its birth in the caves of the mighty Himalayas. It is always flowing. The knowledge in the Vedas are also like that - ever green. The efforts of mankind, his intellect and wisdom are like tributaries that feed in little water to the mighty river. The knowledge of the Vedas is self-standing and our efforts (to prove it) are like tributaries that feed in water to the river from time-to-time and not permanent. - Mankutimma

ತಿಳಿವಾವುದಿಳೆಗೆ ಯುಗಯುಗದ ಬೆಳಕಾಗಿತ್ತೊ ।
ಹಳದೆಂದು ನೀನದನು ಕಳೆಯುವೆಯ, ಮರುಳೆ ॥
ತಳಹದಿಯದಲ್ತೆ ನಮ್ಮೆಲ್ಲ ಹೊಸ ತಿಳಿವಿಂಗೆ? ।
ಹಳೆ ಬೇರು ಹೊಸ ತಳಿರು - ಮಂಕುತಿಮ್ಮ ॥ ೫೨೦ ॥
ಈ ಜಗತ್ತಿನಲ್ಲಿ ನಮ್ಮ ಸನಾತನದ ವೇದದ ಜ್ಞಾನವೇ ಅತೀ ಪುರಾತನವಾದದ್ದು. ಅದು ಅನಾದಿ ಕಾಲದಿಂದ ಯುಗ ಯುಗಗಳಿಂದ ಜನಮಾನಸದೊಳಕ್ಕೆ ಹರಿದು ಬರುತ್ತಿದೆ. ಅದನ್ನು ಹಳತು ಎಂದು ನೀನು ಹೇಳುತ್ತೀಯಾ ಹುಚ್ಚಾ? ಅದೇ ಅಲ್ಲವೇ ನಮ್ಮ ಜಗತ್ತಿನ ಸಮಸ್ತ ಆಧುನಿಕ ಜ್ಞಾನದ ಉಗಮಕ್ಕೆ ತಳಹದಿ ಅಥವಾ ಅಡಿಪಾಯ. ಹಳೆಯಬೇರು ಆಳವಾಗಿ ನೆಲದಲ್ಲಿರುವಾಗ ಮಾತ್ರ ಹೊಸ ಚಿಗುರು ಪ್ರತೀ ವಸಂತಕ್ಕೂ ನಳನಳಿಸುವುದು ಎಂದು ನಮ್ಮ ಬದುಕಿನ, ಸಂಸ್ಕಾರ, ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಗಳ ಮತ್ತು ಜ್ಞಾನದ ಬೇರನ್ನು ನಮಗೆ ನೆನಪಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ ಮಾನ್ಯ ಗುಂಡಪ್ಪನವರು ನಮಗೆ ಈ ಮುಕ್ತಕದಲ್ಲಿ.
From time immemorial, this world is enlightened by the ancient knowledge (of Vedas). Will you discard them all just because they are old? You would be a fool to do so. It is the foundation of all our new understandings. That knowledge is enabling us to make modern-day-progress possible. ವೇದ ಲೋಕಾಚಾರ ನಿನ್ನನುಭವದ ಯುಕ್ತಿ ।
ಶೋಧಿಸೀ ಮೂರನುಂ ಸಂವಾದಗೊಳಿಸು ॥
ಸಾಧಿಜ್ಞಾನ ನರಸಾಧ್ಯ ಪ್ರಮಾಣವದು ।
ಹಾದಿ ಬೆಳಕದು ನಿನಗೆ - ಮಂಕುತಿಮ್ಮ ॥ ೫೨೧ ॥
ಅನಾದಿ ಕಾಲದಿಂದಲೂ ಹರಿದು ಬಂದಿರುವ ವೇದಜ್ಞಾನದ ಸಾರ, ಲೋಕಾರೂಢಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಮಗೆ ಲಭ್ಯವಾದ ಜ್ಞಾನ ಮತ್ತು ನಾವು ನಮ್ಮ ಅಂತರಂಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಥಿಸಿ ಅರಿತು ಪಡೆದುಕೊಂಡ ಅರಿವು, ಈ ಮೂರನ್ನು ಸಮನ್ವಯಗೊಳಿಸಿದ್ದಲ್ಲಿ, ಅದು ಸಾಧಿಸಿದ ಜ್ಞಾನವಾಗಿ ರೂಪುಗೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತದೆ. ನರನ ಸಾಧನೆಗೆ ಮತ್ತು ಅಂತಹ ಸಾಧಿತ ಜ್ಞಾನವೇ ನಮ್ಮ ಬದುಕಿಗೆ ಬೆಳಕಾಗುತ್ತದೆ ಎಂದು ಸೂಚಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಮಾನ್ಯ ಗುಂಡಪ್ಪನವರು ನಮಗೆ ಈ ಮುಕ್ತಕದಲ್ಲಿ.
The ancient knowledge of the Vedas, the current traditions of the world and wisdom you accumulated based on your experiences. These have to be thought over and over again. They have to be tallied with each other. When we go through such exercise, a new philosophy emerges that is very personal to each one. That should be treated as the yardstick for all decisions. ಹೊಸ ಚಿಗುರು ಹಳೆ ಬೇರು ಕೂಡಿರಲು ಮರಸೊಬಗು ।
ಹೊಸಯುಕ್ತಿ ಹಳೆತತ್ತ್ವದೊಡಗೂಡೆ ಧರ್ಮ ॥
ಋಷಿವಾಕ್ಯದೊಡನೆ ವಿಜ್ಞಾನ ಕಲೆ ಮೇಳವಿಸೆ ।
ಜಸವು ಜನಜೀವನಕೆ - ಮಂಕುತಿಮ್ಮ ॥ ೫೨೨ ॥
ಮಾನ್ಯ ಗುಂಡಪ್ಪನವರ ಈ ಮುಕ್ತಕ ಬಹಳ ಪ್ರಖ್ಯಾತವಾದ ಮತ್ತು ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಪ್ರಚಾರವನ್ನು ಪಡೆದ ಮುಕ್ತಕಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದು. ಒಂದು ಮರದ ಬೇರುಗಳು ಹಳೆಯದಾಗಿದ್ದು ಮತ್ತು ಆಳವಾಗಿದ್ದರೆ ಆ ಮರದಲ್ಲಿ ಮೊಳೆಯುವ ಹೊಸ ಚಿಗುರು ಬಹಳ ಸೊಗಸು. ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ನಮ್ಮ ಹಳೆಯ ತತ್ವದ ಸತ್ವವನ್ನು ಉಳಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಹೊಸ ಯುಕ್ತಿಯಿಂದ ಕೂಡಿ ಪಾಲಿಸುವ ಧರ್ಮವಾಗಬೇಕು. ಪುರಾತನ ಋಷಿಗಳ ಜ್ಞಾನದ ವಾಕ್ಯಗಳೊಡನೆ ನವೀನ ವಿಜ್ಞಾನವು ಸಮನ್ವಯಗೊಂಡರೆ, ಅಂತಹ ಒಂದು ಸ್ಥಿತಿ ಜನರ ಜೀವನಕೆ ನಿಜವಾದ ಸಂತಸವನ್ನು ತರುತ್ತದೆ ಎಂದು ಬದುಕಿನ ಅದ್ಭುತ ಸತ್ಯವನ್ನು ಪ್ರತಿಪಾದಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಮಾನ್ಯ ಗುಂಡಪ್ಪನವರು ಈ ಮುಕ್ತಕದಲ್ಲಿ.
A tree is most healthy and beautiful when it has old roots and fresh sprouts. Just like that, it is Dharma only when new wisdom is in harmony with ancient philosophy. When the words of sages are reverberated in acts of science and art, there is bound to be prosperity to all. - Mankutimma

ವೇದಗಳು ಶಾಸ್ತ್ರಗಳು ಲೋಕನೀತಿಗಳೆಲ್ಲ ।
ಹಾದಿ ತೋರಲು ನಿಶಿಯೊಳುರಿವ ಪಂಜುಗಳು ॥
ಸೌಧವೇರಿದವಂಗೆ, ನಭವ ಸೇರಿದವಂಗೆ ।
ಬೀದಿಬೆಳಕಿಂದೇನೊ? - ಮಂಕುತಿಮ್ಮ ॥ ೫೨೩ ॥
ಕತ್ತಲಲ್ಲಿ ನಮಗೆ ಬೆಳಕ ತೋರುವ ಪಂಜುಗಳಂತೆ ಅಜ್ಞಾನದಲ್ಲಿರುವವಗೆ ವೇದದ ಮತ್ತು ಶಾಸ್ತ್ರಗಳ ಜ್ಞಾನ ವಿಜ್ಞಾನಗಳು ದೀಪಗಳಂತೆ. ಒಂದು ಲಾಟೀನಿನ ಬೆಳಕಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಹಾದಿಯನ್ನು ಸವೆಸಿ,ದೀಪಗಳ ಬೆಳಕಿನಿಂದ ಪ್ರಾಜ್ವಲ್ಯಮಾನವಾದ ಮನೆಯನ್ನೋ, ಸೌಧವನ್ನೋ ಹೊಕ್ಕವನಿಗೆ ಆ ಲಾಟೀನಿನ ಬೆಳಕಿನ ಅವಶ್ಯಕತೆಯಿರುವುದಿಲ್ಲ ಎಂದು ಅಜ್ಞಾನದಿಂದ ಜ್ಞಾನದೆಡೆಗೆ ಹೋಗುವ ಮಾರ್ಗವನ್ನು ಸೂಚಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಮಾನ್ಯ ಗುಂಡಪ್ಪನವರು ಈ ಮುಕ್ತಕದಲ್ಲಿ.
